I don't have anything to say on the subject, so forgive me if I stray...
My attention was caught on the Al Jazeera link by the fires in Sydney which, once again, are totally out of control. It's actually quite unreal how fucking stupid the Oz governments are, cuz during the 24 years I spent in Sydney, I saw nearly as many fires raging right inside the metropolitan area (i.e. the Sydney + suburbs), and twice had to evacuate the house I lived in cuz the fucking forest fire had reached to 200 meters from my house, and hot burning branches and shit were falling on the house.
It's all the more staggering cuz Sydney is right by the ocean, and all it'd take is a couple of those Canadian-made planes, called Canadair. They are perfect in zones where there is a large surface area of water, like a lake or the sea/ocean; they scoop several tons of water off the surface in a split second, and are back on the fire scene in one minute.
What solution can be more fucking obvious than that, eh?
We have plenty of these planes in France, especially on the Riviera where forest fires are common, and I can tell you that thanks to them, fires are put out in a matter of a couple of hours; at most, you might get a couple of houses slightly affected by smoke, and certainly NOBODY ever dies.
And yet the Riviera is 10 times drier in climate than Sydney, that's a fact I can verify for having lived in both places for many years.
Deidra and I watched one of my favorite movies yet again: "Monster in law". I always think of you and your "step monster" when I watch this movie, lol.
By the way, not only is the movie excellent but the accompanying music is just wonderful. At the very very end, during the credits, there is a gorgeous jazz song sung by a woman whose name I now forget but who sounds like Billie Holiday.

I laughed . I don't think Jennifer Lopez gets enough credit for her acting skills, she's actually not bad.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen her in other movies, but in this one I found her absolutely brilliant. Very cute too, lol
