So what is the truth?

Does Iran's President Want Israel Wiped Off The Map - Does He Deny The Holocaust?

...There again we find the quotation already rendered by n24: "In the name of the Holocaust they created a myth." We can see that this is completely different from what is published by e.g. the DPA - the massacre against the Jews is a fairy-tale. What Ahmadinejad does is not denying the Holocaust. No! It is dealing out criticism against the mendacity of the imperialistic powers who use the Holocaust to muzzle critical voices and to achieve advantages concerning the legitimization of a planned war. This is criticism against the exploitation of the Holocaust...

(my emphasis, and don't get me wrong here, I'm definitely no fan of Islamists, I think they way they dismiss women's right is self-defeating and stupid in the long run. Religious fanatics of any brand make me head for the nearest exit, peace out. )

The west must recognise that Israel's agenda is in conflict with its own The Olmert government, Hizbullah and Hamas are tacitly united in rejection of any moves towards a compromise peace

    Hello,
so, this is both a comment on the issue of this post and a response to your comment from before (on http://loopy-net.com).
RE current issue: Being an Iranian, who loves my former country, i cannot in any way say that i approve of the government, nor Ahmadinejad's verbal diahrrea. however, i do want to make a qualification. What he is saying (regarding destruction of Israel and somesuch), is exactly that: Rhetorc. And it is NOT something new. These are slogans about which the Islamic revolution took place, and are written on every wall in most cities. They have been uttered at the beginning and end of every friday prayer for 26 years. The western media never said anything about that, because it is understood taht this rhetoric spewed by the religious leaders in order to 'maintain' the spirit of the revolution. I doubt if an iota of the people (or most of the pragmatic, true leaders) actually believe in a bit of that.
Secondly RE: Your comment. I'm sorry if i came across as anti-american, as in putting the blame for for all of the government's doing ont he people. NO. However, what i truly am disappointed in, is the lack of any vocal opposition. And i don't mean the intellectuals, journalists, writing the occasional piece complaining about this or taht. I mean, pouring out in the streets and making the voice heard. I covered teh american election in which kerry lost, and i do believe although 60 milion voted bush, 59 million voted anti-bush. WHy would that 59 million not go in teh street, when a stem-cell bill is vetoed, when they are tired of an unjust war? I lived in the US for two years in the late 80's (and i cannot say it was a very good experience for me, i was 9 at the time and was treated quite badly in terms of racism, and i was put back academically, because i was deemed too young to be in grade 5), and i lived in Canada for 13 years and am now living in France. What always killed me in NA, was the apathy of the people. Go in teh streets. Teh government is SUPPOSED to represent thepeople, so when they DO NOT, It is the duty of the people to let them know about it. The power is with the people! If workers go on strike, railways and airlines, if the coutnry is brought to a hault, then government will listen.
I'm sorry for the really long, comment.
By the way, i really enjoy your blog. Keep it up.

  2. Dear Loopy,

Thanks for the long comment, I appreciate it. I often wonder why there are not hundreds of thousands of people in the US streets protesting, also. Maybe they are but it is not reported on in the news. Maybe the people here are afraid of the police brutality? We do sell more riot gear, and military equipment than anything else from this country. Maybe they are protesting, but it is not reported on in the news. There was a website the government didn't like and they took the servers. The website was Indymedia NY and they were showing pictures from the protests at the Republican National Convention. Maybe the people work so many hours a week to get by that they don't have time to protest? Maybe they don't even know how bad it is, please read this: from The Columbia Journalism Review This is not may way of excusing people, I just wonder also, why we never see on the news the protests. I must say I have been to protests that were not on the news. Maybe things haven't gotten bad enough for people to want to overthrow the criminal Bush regime. A lot of people here don't think that their vote is counted: <"This is a site you should visit every single day."
