Greedy developers (reposted and updated)

Residents have been led to believe that they have no choice and that is BS, the entire city council has to vote on this. The inevitable homelessness for some of the long time residents with section 8 vouchers nobody wants to honor in this grossly overpriced area is not a done deal.

(from Aug 20, 2016)
I'm looking at the property where I have rented an apartment for 17 years. 350 apartments. Lots of grass and trees. Some of these trees are probably 50 years old. I'm sure they absorb some of the pollution that the 14 lanes of adjacent freeway spew. There are only 10 units max in each building, which makes it easy to control cockroaches. Contrary to popular belief, cockroaches are usually a sign that building maintenance sucks, not that the tenant is dirty.

Sometime in the next 18 months all of the residents  (some with section 8 vouchers) will be booted out so that the property can be redeveloped into a mix of single family homes for sale and multi-family units for sale and rent. Over 600 units, with 240 for rent.  No doubt the rentals will be much less affordable. They redeveloped the apartments across the street and the rent over there is twice what it is here.

I really don't know where the people who work in nursing homes, or food service or all of the other low wage workers are supposed to live? Average rent in San Diego is 175% of a full-time minimum wage workers pay. That is a crap studio in a crap neighborhood. It's not uncommon to see entire families in one bedroom apartments. And how many minimum wage workers can actually GET work full time? The employers have to pay BENEFITS to full time employees. Oh my, the horrors.

So, Mr. Big shot developer,

Where does that kind lady who takes care or your mother in the nursing home live?  How about that waitress your greedy ass habitually under tips?  The crew that takes care of your yard?  Do they all get up at 2AM because it takes forever to get across the US-Mexico border every day?  Ahhhh, it's ok, they can sleep, when they're dead. Right?
